The British officials is accompanied by representatives from British Petroleum and Shell companies.
British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond is in Tehran for a two-day visit to reopen the UK embassy in the city which was shuttered in 2011. This will also reopen Iranian embassy in London.
Having arrived in Tehran on Sunday, Hammond heads a high-ranking politico-economic delegation. The visit is marked as the first visit to Iran by a British foreign secretary since 2003.
The British foreign secretary is also scheduled to hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh, Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif.
Britain shuttered its Iran embassy in November 2011 and announced that it withdrew its diplomatic staff from the country.
