Iran not Against Emergency OPEC Meeting

TEHRAN August 23(Shana)--Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh said, “Iran endorses an emergency OPEC meeting and would not disagree with it.”

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, Zangeneh told reporters that an OPEC meeting would “be effective” to stop the oil price slump.

“All OPEC members must consent to an emergency meeting and the members’ endorsement of the meeting would mean that all of them are determined to reach an outcome from the assembly,” he said.

“I believe some countries (OPEC members) with political intents are least likely to easily endorse the meeting.”
