Transfer of Technologies a Must for Trade with Iran: Speaker

TEHRAN Sept. 02 (Shana)-- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the country prioritizes the transfer of technological achievements to Iran in its future economic trade.

"Iran's 80-million-strong market and massive oil and gas reserves make for palatable opportunities for investment in the country," said Larijani during a meeting with the British Lord Speaker, Baroness D'Souza, on the sidelines of the Fourth World Conference of Parliament Speakers convened by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the United Nations (UN) in New York.

He underlined Iran's leading role in fighting drug trafficking without the help of other countries.

Baroness D'Souza called for providing technical support for Iran after the sanctions, and hailed reopening of the British Embassy in Tehran a major step towards détente that can be the opening of a new chapter in Tehran-London ties.

She voiced the willingness of the British House of Lords for expanding parliamentary relations with Iran, and called for expansion of research activities between the two countries.
