“The Iranian consultant has been selected and legal procedures are underway for handing over the contract on the feasibility studies on the project to lay the 400-kilometer land-sea pipeline from Iran to Oman,” Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Alireza Kameli told Shana.
According to initial available data, the land part of the gas-line extends for 200 kilometers from Rudan to Mobark Mount in the southern Hormuzgan Province. The seabed section between Iran and Sohar Port in Oman will stretch for another 200 kilometers.
“The technical studies for the land and sea sections is planned to be carried out simultaneously to prevent any delay in the project,” he added.
Iran and Oman agreed in 2013 to construct the pipeline which, for 15 years, will carry 28 million cubic meters of gas across Persian Gulf to the Omani port.
In the wake of the nuclear agreement between Iran and P5+1 group of world powers, an increasing number of foreign firms are negotiating investment in the Islamic Republic’s upstream and downstream energy projects.
