Iran Joins Gasoil Exporters Club

TEHRAN Sept. 12 (Shana) – As a result of feeding the power stations and industries with natural gas, Iran managed to divert its surplus gasoil which was consumed by the industries to foreign markets for the first time and to become one of exporting countries of the product.

With introduction of additional South Pars phases to the gas production stream in the last two years and using their output as the alternative for gasoil feed of power stations and industries, Iran exported three million liters of gasoil in the first five-months of the current year (started March 21).

“Afghanistan and Pakistan have been Iran’s gasoil export destinations. And with finalization of the contract with Iraq, gasoil export to the neighboring country has started,” said Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Nasser Sajjadi.

Increased screening of diesel cars, checking gasoil trafficking, and reducing the consumption of the product by power stations have been contributing to Iran’s becoming a gasoil producer.
