Synergy Eyes New Oil Contracts with Iran

TEHRAN Oct. 3 (Shana) – The international oil and gas company Synergy is in negotiations with Iran to enter into new oil contracts in the post-sanction era, an executive in the Dubai-based firm said.

“We will do our best to regain our pre-sanction position in Iran,” Ian Morrison told Shana on the sidelines of the Second International Conference on Technological Opportunities (ICTO) in Oil and Gas Industry held in Tehran on Wednesday.

“There are abundant opportunities in Iran’s oil industry,” the company's technical vice-president added, “Synergy is after making its presence in Iran stronger and transferring the technologies required in the industry.”

Also James McCallum, one of the company’s senior managers, told the conference organized by Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) that as sanctions against Iran are falling, it is providing the opportunities for expansion of cooperation with the Islamic Republic.

“Synergy welcomes sharing technological knowledge with RIPI on enhanced oil recovery,” he said.

In addition to four major Iranian companies, OMV of Austria, a consortium from the Netherlands led by Delft University, DBUII consortium, Imperial College of London, IMPA of Brazil, and Norway’s Bergen University took part in the conference.
