Iran Launches Diesel-for-Mileage Plan to Manage Consumption, Curb Trafficking

TEHRAN Oct. 10 (Shana) – Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said there is a national diesel-for-mileage plan underway with cooperation of the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Road and Urban Development in a bid to manage the fuel’s consumption and curb its trafficking to neighboring countries.

Paying a visit to the Intelligent Fuel Premises of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), he said the first phase of implementation of the plan has been in place for the inter-city buses and trucks.

The plan, Zangeneh said, will provide useful information to the decision-makers and bring discipline to the commuter and freight system of the country.

It will be completed in a year after installation of GPS equipment on the semi-heavy vehicles with the cooperation of responsible bodies, he added.
