Major Japanese Firm in Oil Contract Talks with Iran

TEHRAN Oct. 11 (Shana) – Director of International Affairs in Iranian Petroleum Ministry said the giant Japanese refiner Showa Shell is in negotiations with Iran over .volume of buying crude oil from Iran after sanctions are lifted

“Showa Shell’s senior officials are accompanying the Japanese foreign minister during his upcoming visit to Iran with the sale of crude to the major Asian refiner on the agenda of the talks,” Mohsen Qamsari told Shana.

Also speaking at the ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of signing a contract between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Japanese Idemitsu company as well as the 62nd anniversary of freighting petrol and gasoil to Japan, he said Tehran and Tokyo enjoy win-win ties based on mutual confidence.

“The project on merging Showa Shell and Idemitsu in the near future is of significance for NIOC,” he added.

Japanese ambassador in Iran welcomed expansion of trade ties with Iran in the post-sanction era and said sanctions negatively affected his country’s bilateral relations with Iran.
