Sistan-Baluchestan Seized Smuggled Oil Products Up 68%

TEHRAN Oct. 11 (Shana) – More than two million liters of smuggled oil products were seized in the first six months of the Iranian year (March 21 – September 23) in the eastern province of Sistan-va-Baluchestan marking an increase of 68 percent, a local official said.

“Bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan and the significant difference in fuel prices across the border have made the trafficking lucrative for illegal vendors,” said Dadkhoda Estesami, director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) in the provincial capital of Zehdan.

He said the confiscated oil cargos include petrol, gasoil, and kerosene which were returned to the official distribution cycle after undergoing related quality tests.
