Iran Ready to Meet Global Gas Needs in Post-Sanction Era

TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (Shana) – First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said Iran is ready to play an active role in satisfying the global gas requirements after removal of sanctions considering the fact that it owns the richest combined oil and gas resources of the world.

In a meeting with Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohammad-Hossein Adeli here on Saturday, he welcomed the Secretariat’s initiative in outlining the Global Gas Model and drafting the Market Outlook 2040 as well as forming the Technical-Economic Council.

He assessed GECF’s two-year performance as "positive and valuable" and said the organization’s upcoming summit meeting in Tehran is an opportunity to discuss the gas market developments at the highest level.

Adeli, who is in Tehran heading a GECF delegation to arrange preparations of the summit and to participate in the Iranian Petroleum and Energy Club 2015 Congress and Exhibition on October 19-12, briefed Jahangiri on the organization’s activities, the developments in international gas markets and their prospects.

The Third GECF Gas Summit will convene in Tehran on November 23 to be attended by heads of state and government of 18 memberstates.
