“In a telephone conversation with President Hassan Rouhani on Friday, President Putin announced he will attend the Third GECF Summit,” said a statement on the website of the Iranian Presidential Office.
In addition to taking part in the summit, the Russian president will hold bilateral meetings with top-ranking Iranian officials, it added.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral and regional issues, read the statement.
The 3rd Gas Summit will be attended by heads of state and government of GECF member countries as well as guest international organizations.
Previous GECF Gas summits were held in Qatar in 2011 and in Moscow in 2013.
The GECF is the gathering of the world’s leading gas producers that provides a framework for exchange of experience, views, information and data, as well as coordination in gas related developments among member countries.
