No More Gas for Turkey: Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (Shana) – Iran cannot boost its gas supply to Turkey under the current deal the two countries have signed, but the former is ready to hold talks with neighboring Turkey to supply more gas, a senior Iranian gas official said.

"We are ready to negotiate a new gas deal with Turkey," Director of International Affairs of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Azizollah Ramezani said on Sunday.

However, Ramezani said Tehran cannot supply its neighbor with more gas under the current deal the two countries have signed.

"Iran cannot inject more than what has been agreed upon in the deal to Turkey," he added.

"If they call for more gas, we shall mull the request based on our production capacity," he said.
