Post-Sanctions Iran to Resume Oil Swap: Official

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (Shana) – Director of the North Terminal in Iranian Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) said that following the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, the company can resume oil swap operation.

Hamid-Reza Shahdoust said the terminal under his management is facing a number of challenges such as outdated tankers which have lowered its swap capacity by stretching loading operation of the vessels.

“The next problem is non-conformity of crude oil consignments with the specifications stipulated in the contracts,” he added.

The North Terminal which was launched by the experts in the Ministry of Petroleum in 2003 was designed on crude oil storage and blending operation.

Last week, IOTC Managing Director Pirouz Mousavi said that the North Terminal with a swap capacity of 200,000 barrels per day and that after its development plan is completed it can swap up to 500,000 barrels.
