Arbitration in Iran-Turkey Gas Price in Progress: NIGC

TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (Shana) – The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) rejected reports in section of the domestic media that final verdict in the gas price dispute between Iran and Turkey is out saying it is under consideration.

“The news in the domestic media and news agencies do not reflect the final and binding judgment of the International Court of Arbitration (ICA) and NIGC is waiting for the announcement of the verdict to issue its due announcement,” said a company press release.

NIGC also reiterated its stand that current price of exported gas to Turkey is fair and logical and that there has been no change in the company’s position.

Iran and Turkey in 1996 signed a contract valid for export of upto 10 bcm of gas annually for a 25-years period by pumping 30 mcm gas per day.
