Iran Liable to Increase Oil Output: Russia

TEHRAN, March 14 (Shana) – Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Iran has the right to have an exclusive way to increase its crude oil output in order to have a rise in its sanctions-free exports.

Speaking to reporters following a meeting with Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh here on Monday, he said the idea of exempting Iran from a global production and export freeze was raised amid a fluctuating oil market and falling prices in the last 18 months.

“Major oil producers shall coordinate with each other,” he added, “However, since Iran’s production decreased under sanctions, we totally understand Iran’s position to increase production and revive its share in the global markets.”

Novak said: “Within the framework of major oil producers (OPEC and non-OPEC), Iran is liable to have an exclusive way for increasing its oil production.”
