The Malaysian foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Sunday to hold talks with Iranian officials in a push to boost cooperation with the OPEC member in political and economic grounds.
Prior to intensification of US-led sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program, Malaysia's Petrobras purchased 50 to 60,000 b/d of crude oil from Iran.
The company had to cease oil purchases from Iran in 2012 out of pressure from the sanctions, but immediately after the sanctions' removal, signaled readiness to restore its purchases from the Islamic Republic.
