Zangeneh: Malaysians Keen to Resume Cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN, May 04, (Shana) - Iran's Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said that Malaysian companies are interested to resume cooperation with Iran in oil and gas industry.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Anifah Aman, Zangeneh said that Iran is yet to start crude oil exports to Malaysia.

He referred to good ties between Iran’s oil industry and Malaysian Petronas Company before the sanctions and described Petronas activity in development of 2nd and 3rd phases of South Pars as satisfactory.

We have agreed that Iranian and Malaysian companies resume talks for revival of previous agreements in fields of gas and oil, Zangeneh said.

He said marketing the crude oil and petroleum products, development of oil and gas fields and investment in the downstream sector were discussed with Malaysian foreign minister.

Iran will not fine the Malaysian companies for giving up Iran’s projects due to international sanctions, the official added.

He said Iran has suggested resume of cooperation with Malaysian companies in field of commerce for the beginning and then it can develop to other areas including oil export.
