Gas Extract from SP to reach 800m cm/d

TEHRAN, May 06 (Shana) – Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company Ali Akbar Shabanpour says gas extraction from South Pars gas field will reach 800 million cubic meters a day.

Speaking to Shana on the sidelines of the 21st Tehran Oil Show, Shabanpour said with operation of five phases of South Pars, Iran’s annual gas extract will equal that of Oman.
He said once all phases of South Pars are operational, Iran’s daily gas extract from the common field will reach 800 million cubic meters a day.
He said if all South Pars phases plus phase 14 of South Pars come into cycle, 800 million cubic meters will be added to daily gas production capacity along with one million barrels to the gas condensate production capacity.
He said Qatar’s annual extract from South Pars gas field has been fixed in the past three years.
He said in 2013 Qataris extracted 1.9 times more than Iran from South Pars common field and operational of South Pars phases in the past three years has now equaled 75 percent of Qataris’ extraction amount.
Based on plans made and in case of extension of sufficient finance, if five phases of South Pars come on cycle, Iran’s extraction amount will exceed that of Qatar this year.
Asked whether Pars Oil and Gas Company has had any talks with Korean companies for development of phase 14, he said no contract to that effect had been signed with Koreans. He said that however, development of the phase is a project entrusted to a consortium, comprising eight companies with IPMI leading them.
He said talks are underway with Indians for development of Farzad B gas field.
He added that Iranian minister of petroleum and Indian Minister of Energy newly signed an agreement.
The Indian party is going to offer a specific financial model based on current rates, while specifying the type of extraction from the field. The Iranian ministry of petroleum will then decide on the issue, he added.
The official said phases 19, 20 and 21 of South Pars will come on operation this year.
