Iran Dispatches First Gas Oil Cargo to Iraq

TEHRAN, May 25 (Shana) -- Iran dispatched the first cargo of its gas oil to Iraq’s Kurdistan region on Wednesday, Alireza Ashnagar Iran’s Kordestan province deputy governor general for political, security and social affairs said.

He noted that 290,000 liter of gas oil were sent by 10 tankers to the Iraqi Kurdistan region in a bid to enhance living condition of people residing in the border areas and prevent smuggling of fuel by local people. 

Iran plays an important role in the Iraqi reconstruction. Iraq imports the following goods from Iran: cars, construction materials, medicine, fruits and spices, fish, air conditioners, office furniture, carpets and apparel. The volume of trade between Iran and Iraq reached $12 billion in 2013.
