Iran to Attract Foreign Investment in Energy Sector

TEHRAN, June 25 (Shana) –Iran's Charge D'Affair in London Mohammad-Hassan Habibollahzadeh says Iran wants to absorb foreign investment in its energy sector.

Habibollahzadeh made the remark in an address to the Growing Economies Energy Forum, held in InterContinental London - The O2 from June 22-23.
He said appropriate condition has been prepared for  foreign investment in Iranian energy sector.
He went on to say that Iran plans to raise its economic growth rate to six percent in next five years per policies of the 6th Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2016-2021).
The official said for the time being, 115 big power plants run in the country with the capacity of generating 660 power generation units.
He said Iran is in need of 40 percent increase in its power generation.
The official said Iran has now 750,000 megawatts of installed power generation capacity and based on the 6th Plan, the capacity is expected to reach 105,000 megawatts.
The diplomat said Iran is to make more than 50 billion dollars worth investment in the power industry in the next seven years, and 35 billion dollars of which will be made in the power generation sector and 15 billion dollars in the power transfer sector.
