South Pars Gas Output Up 5bcf/d by Yearend

TEHRAN, June 25 (Shana) – Iran is to launch 5 new phases of the massive South Pars gas field by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20 2017 which will add 5 billion cubic feet to the country's daily gas output.

Managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Ali Akbar Shabanpour has said phases 19, 20, 21, 17 and 18 of the gas field are planned to become operational by the yearend, adding 5 bcf/d of natural gas to the country's output. 

Iran is loading platform 21 of the field this week to have it installed within the next five months. 

The country is to launch 6 new platforms at the massive field by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.

It loaded platform 18B of phases 17&18 of the gas field, which it share with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters, on Thursday, June 23.

Last year, platform 19C was loaded and is now ready for startup with a production capacity of a billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

POGC is currently recovering over 430 mcm/d of gas from South Pars.
