Shahdaie Puts Fire Damage at Petchem Facility at 60m Euros

TEHRAN, July 10 (Shana) – Deputy Minister of Petroleum Marzieh Shahdaie on Saturday putting total amount of damage at Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant as a result of the Wednesday inferno at more than 60 million euros.

In a TV program, Shahdaie said the precise figure of damage would be estimated by related experts in the future.

She  insisted that none of the 11 units of Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant , except the tower and two storage tanks, were damaged in the course of the incident. "We hope the facility will resume work by next two weeks."

She underlined initiation of crisis management program in Iranian petrochemical industry and urged the private sector and petrochemical managers to care for upgrading safety standards and try to rectify managerial faults.

In a televised interview, Shahdaie provided her host and viewers on the weak and strong points of management of fire harnessing in the paraxylene tower and the storage tank no. 2001C of Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant and said the tragedy was well checked by the Crisis Management Committee of Mahshahr Special Economic Zone as well as the Crisis and Strategy Headquarters of the Minister of Petroleum.

She said such an incident clarified pretty well the weak spots of crisis management for the officials in charge, so necessitating identifying global standards of management of such units.
