Oil Storage Tanks in Ganaveh Operational by Yearend

TEHRAN, July 23 (Shana) – Iran is to launch 14 crude oil storage tanks with a capacity of holding 10 million barrels of oil by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20.

Developed by the private sector, the tanks will come online during the current year, said Ali Askari, managing director of Omid Investment Company, speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the site of the tanks in the southern city of Ganaveh, Bushehr Province.

He said the tanks are completely put together by Iranian developers and experts and are equipped with one of the country's most advanced measuring systems for monitoring the intake and output of the tanks. 

He said the tanks comprise of 8 1-million-barrel tanks, 4 tanks with a capacity of holding 250,000 barrels of oil and 2 tanks with a capacity of 500,000 barrels in an area as big as 100 square hectares. 

Construction of the tanks began in 2011 and was awarded to PetroOmid Asia Co. (a subsidiary of Omid Investment Co.).
