Speaking after a meeting with Igor Nasalika, minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine, in his Tehran office on Monday, Zangeneh told reporters that the Ukrainian delegation raised the topic of importing crude oil and gas from Iran for transit to Europe during the meeting.
"Iran has suggested it would start energy cooperation with Ukraine with the supply of their need for oil, despite the fact that they need a limited quantity of crude oil," the top Iranian energy official said.
He said Ukraine enjoys a formidable oil and gas distribution network and more talks will be held for transit of Iranian oil and gas to Europe through Ukraine.
"We shall assess the economic justifiability and practicality of this suggestion for Iran to supply a part of the oil needed by Czech and Slovakia through Ukraine."
Zangeneh further added that trade between Iran and Ukraine is the fastest and most effective sector for cooperation between the two state.
