Ground Ready for Promotion of Iran-Indonesia Cooperation: Pertamina President

TEHRAN, Aug 08(Shana) – Ground is ready for promotion of cooperation between Iran and Indonesia in fields of oil, gas and petrochemicals, President and CEO of Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina Dwi Soetiipto said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after signing a cooperation document with Iran's National Iranian Oil Company, he noted that the post-sanctions era has paved the way for increase of cooperation between Tehran and Jakarta.

 Referring to arrival of first Iran's Liquefied Petroleum Gas cargo to Indonesia in the next Iranian calendar month, the official noted that Jakarta is keen to increase LPG, petrochemical products and crude oil import from Iran in the near future.

Removal of Iran's sanctions, improvement of cooperation between Tehran and the world and in the meantime, Iran's decision to increase oil and gas output has provided lots of opportunities for enhancement of cooperation, Pertamina president added.

Pertamina can do lots of investments in Iranian infrastructure projects including refineries, he noted.

National Iranian Oil Company and Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday for the latter to carry out studies over two Iranian oil fields.

Ali Kardor, managing director of NIOC, and Dwi Soetjipto signed the MoU in Tehran.

The deal is aimed at studying the fields of Abteimour and Mansouri for future development.

During the ceremony, Kardor underlined the significance of knowledge transfer to Iran by signature of the MoU, adding this will be the first direct cooperation of NIOC and Pertamina.

"Iran's oil industry has been chiefly focused on knowledge transfer and seek interactions with international companies in the industry," said the NIOC official.

He said NIOC needs to access the latest technologies for fulfilling its development goals and this is a point that international firms must take into account in their interactions with the company.
