Iran’s Capacity for Daily Gas Exports to Turkey Up 6m cm

TEHRAN, Aug 19 (Shana) -- Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company Hamid-Reza Araqi says Iran has the possibility to raise its daily gas exports to Turkey by six million cubic meters.

 “Based on contract, Iran exports 30 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey a day and giving the current infrastructures, it can add up six million cubic meters to its daily gas exports to Turkey. This will be possible after signing a new contract and it is not possible based the current contract,” Araqi told Shana, while referring to the recent meeting of Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad-Javad Zarif with his Turkish counterpart.

Araqi said if long-term contract for increasing volume of gas exports to Turkey is signed by the two sides, necessary infrastructures can be laid down.

He said between March 21 and August 6, 2015, 2.051 billion cubic meters of gas were exported, and between March 20 and August 5, 2016, it amounted to 2.093 cubic meters.

He added that in the period under study (March 21-August 5, 2015), 26.071 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered to power plants and this reached 27.067 billion cubic meters.

He said from March 21-August 5, 2015, 1.038 billion cubic meters of gas were injected to Saraje and Shourijeh storage tanks and 3.096 billion to Aghajari oil fields as the figures reached 1.052 billion and 5.037 billion cubic meters in the same period this year.

Referring to presence of President Hassan Rouhani in the ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of establishment of the National Iranian Gas Company and said his presence showed importance of the activities of the NIGC and that the company had had successful performance.
