NISOC Chief Says New Oil Contract Model Favors Oil Industry

TEHRAN, Aug 23 (Shana) – Director of Production at the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) Abdolreza Dabiri says the new model of oil contracts is a method to attract investment.

Dabiri told Shana, “Now that there is possibility for international investment in the oil industry, we should use the chance. We should adopt a new model that can provide us with the opportunity.”

He said as far as he is informed, in-depth studies have been conducted at the Ministry of Petroleum and other organs on the new model of oil and gas contracts.

He added that financial resources and access to the latest technology are the keys to survival of the oil industry.

“Now we face financial restriction in the oil industry and the new model of oil contract should be advantageous enough for foreign investors to come in. On the other hand, the contracts should safeguard national interests and I suppose the contracts have been drafted within the same framework.”
