South Pars Gas Yield Up by 190m Cubic Meters/Day in 3 Years

TEHRAN, Aug 23 (Shana) – Managing Director of Pars Energy Special Economic Zone Organization Mehdi Youssefi says over the past three years, when Government of `Hope and Prudence' took office, gas production from South Pars gas field rose by 190 million cubic meters a day to 430 million cubic meters a day./

Youssefi told Shana on the occasion of the Government Week that before the 11th government came on office, South Pars gas field yield was about 240 million cubic meters a day but after the Hope and Prudence Government took office in 2013, the figure topped 430 million cubic meters a day once phases 12 and 15 to 16 and part of phases 17 and 18 came online.

He said total export of gas condensates and petrochemical products from Pars Special Economic Zone reached 21 million tons in the Iranian calendar year of 1393 (2014-15) and it rose to 24.5 million tons in 1394.

Youssefi said by the end of the Iranian month of Tir, July 21, 13.5 million tons of gas condensates and non-oil commodities were exported from Pars Energy and Special Economic Zone, showing 43 percent progress in value compared to the figure in the first four months of the previous year.

He said his company has signed deals for feasibility studies on infrastructural facility construction with Interoil Company of Italy and Petropars.

He then said about 56 million cubic meters a week of associated gas was flared in the first 10 phases of SouthPars in the year 1387 (2008-09), which has fallen to less than five million cubic meters a week. The figure will hit the target of 2.8 million cubic meters a week next year.

He went on to say that increase in private sector investment and lowering gas flaring in South Pars to the level of five million cubic meters a week were the most important function of the 11th government in South Pars.

In the Government Week, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for 10 downstream projects, he concluded.
