President: No Problem with Cooperation with American Companies

TEHRAN, Sept 23 (Shana) – President Hassan Rouhani says Iran has no problem with cooperation with American companies.

President Rouhani made the remark in a press conference in New York on the sidelines of the 71st Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 71).

He said after the JCPOA a suitable atmosphere is provided for expansion of cooperation with Iran and all, except US companies and economic activists, are benefiting from it.

He added, “We have no problem for cooperation with American companies and they have problems inside due to wrong impeding regulations, which they should solve them themselves.”

The president said complicated international issues can be solved through dialogue and constructive engagement, according to IRNA.

President Rouhani made the remark at a press conference in New York on Thursday before leaving for home.

He said the Middle East faces the dangers of violence and extremism and he had in his UN speech called for issuance of a resolution for world free of violence and extremism, which is hoped to be passed.

He noted, “Fortunately, in the complicated nuclear issue of Iran agreement was reached and this was confirmed by the UN Security Council.”

He said as far as nuclear arms and Weapons of Mass Destruction are concerned, Iran has no plan to that effect and Iran’s defense doctrine is not production of the WMDs.

“Now it is proven to the world community that it marks a big success for Iranian government and nation,” president said while referred to the Iran-G5+1 agreement over nuclear issue.

He said sanctions were wrong tool, eventually harmful to all, which were lifted.

He called for removal of banking problems after the JCPOA and loyalty of the parties to the agreement to their commitments.

In another part of the interview, the president called for free sale of passenger planes to Iran after the JCPOA implementation. 

On Syria, he said very important issues are related to Syria as millions are homeless there and no medicine and food had been put at the disposal of many people there for months.

He said 60 percent of Syria is under control of terrorists.

He added that Iran has offered much help to Syrians in past months and years.

'Humanitarian aid has nothing to do with banned flights. No flying will only benefit terrorists because, besides planes, they have all kinds of arms, guns and artillery at their disposal. Of course, safe ways should be found for shipment of humanitarian aid.”

“I believe the top issue with Syria is sending aid to Syrian people. Second issue is campaign against terrorism and thirdly, preparing the ground for all groups to be present in the future government and people’s vote can lead to formation of democracy in the country.”

He said the post-sanction era is an opportunity for Iran to improve relations with other countries.

“In fact, JCPOA was to benefit of all countries because all countries had problems with us to have business.”

Then he focused on wheat and said Iran has extra wheat and should export the surplus.

Iran will have appropriate reaction with the future government of the US if it respects its national interests and is not after raising tension.

President Rouhani said no matter from which party and faction it will be, the next government of the US will receive Iran’s appropriate reaction if it respects Iranian interests, attempts to reduce tension and is not after tension.

When asked about Iran and the US approach in the Persian Gulf, President said Iran has no problem with the US in the Persian Gulf and it is Iran’s right to defend its territory.

He said even before the Iraq war, Iran had problems with the US in the Persian Gulf.

He added that all should make efforts in order that problems are not created.

He said Iran is not after adventurism in the region.

Asked about Iranian American dual nationalities, President Rouhani said Iran does not accept dual nationality and believes an Iranian citizen in origin is Iranian and not American. 

“We do not accept dual nationality.”

He said all should make efforts law is implemented.

More on JCPOA, he said JCPOA importance remains intact even it other side violates its commitments.

He said the JCPOA is in the interest of the region and the world.

To a question on Iran’s wheat, he said Iran has now extra what and has attained self-sufficiency. 

In another development, the president said sending humanitarian aid, fighting terrorism are among main requirements for real democracy in Syria.

He then said US manipulation of Iran’s assets is a very dangerous move and is against international regulations.

“They seized our assets under unfounded pretexts,” said the President while condemning the illegal move made by the US.

He said that Iran has brought the case to the International Court of Justice in the Hague and will pursue it until it will “recover its money with its interests from the US.”

Iran has officially registered a complaint to the International Court of Justice for the US seizure of about two billion dollars of assets belonged to Iran's Central Bank in June.

According to the president, the US has not been over the past 18 months to live up to its JCPOA commitments.

Rouhani said a committee of six ministers of the G5+1, convened in New York, has decided that the US should fulfill to its commitments.

He touched on the US freezing Iranian assets and said Iran will lodge lawsuit in The Hague to that end.

He referred to Saudi Arabia’s war crimes in Yemen and interference in other countries’ affairs and bad treatment with Hajj pilgrims.

President Hassan Rouhani has called for stern campaign against terrorism.

Rouhani said regional insecurity has exceeded the normal level.

He said all governments should extinguish the flames of bloodshed.

He also referred to the US failure to fulfill its missions and said campaign against terrorism is the official requests of all governments in the region.
