Gabriel had earlier visited Iran at head of a delegation of senior directors of German well-known companies in July to meet Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh. He had in a joint press conference with Zanganeh said, "We hope the impacts of the Tehran-G5+1 comprehensive nuclear accord will be visible in action."
Gabriel had at the meeting said both Iran and Germany are interested in improvement of relations in various economic and industrial sectors, saying it testifies revival of Iran-Germany joint economic commission activities, dated as back as 2001.
He said Germans are highly interested in resumption of ties with Tehran in the economic domain and said the two sides can expand cooperation through the joint commission.
Meanwhile, a cooperation agreement was signed between Iran's MAPNA and German Siemens Group during the May visit of Iran's Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian.
German Minister of Economy and Energy was to take part in the Iran-Germany Joint Economic Commission session in May but he postponed the visit due to illness.
