Germany, Iran to Cooperation in Sewage Treatment, Disposal

TEHRAN, Oct 21 (Shana) – Vice-President and Head of the Department of Environment (DoE) Masoomeh Ebtekar says Germany will cooperate with Iran in 15 broad environment protection categories of sewage treatment and disposal and pollution control.

“German private sector is highly interested in investment and contribution into Iranian environment protection projects, including new energies, sewage disposal and industrial process improvement,” Ebtekar told reporters in Zanjan on Thursday.

Among other areas for Iran-Germany cooperation are preserving biological diversity and wildlife, according to the DoE Head.

She said that environmental diplomacy had been among highlights of the Department of Environment (DoE) in the current administration.

She added that her office intends to share expertise with many countries for environment protection. 

Based on a Memorandum of Understanding (DoE), German government will contribute into environment protection projects, including related technology, education and research, said Ebtekar, adding that Germany will help Iranian industries minimize energy consumption, lessen greenhouse gases, air pollution, industrial sewages and industrial towns.
