Dutch Co. to Invest in Iranian Solar Power Plant

TEHRAN, Oct 24 (Shana) – Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian says a Dutch company is to invest in Iranian solar power plants.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Dutch Minister for infrastructure and the environment Melanie Schultz van Haegen in Tehran on Sunday, Chitchian said Iran and the Netherlands have signed a contract for the purpose, adding executive operations to that end have begun.

He said Iranian Energy Ministry and Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment have since long ago been in contact, which resulted in compilation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

He added that the contacts mainly concerned cooperation in water because the Netherlands has rich experience in management of water resources as it faced flood, water encroachment, and the like, so its water technology is highly developed.

The minister went on to say that over the past years, about 3,000 Iranian experts were trained in Dutch educational institutes on water management and technology.

Haegen said for her part welcomed cooperation between the Netherlands and Iran in water management.
