NIOPDRC: Refinery Modernization Is a Must

TEHRAN, Nov 07 (Shana) – Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution and Refining Company (NIOPDRC) Abbas Kazemi says modernization of refineries is a necessity for the country.

Kazemi told Shana that the quality upgrading projects, lessening mazute production in refineries and renovation of five old refineries are among main projects and priorities of the NIOPDRC.

 He said Iranian refining capacity will be up 70 percent and by the next four years, Iran's refining capacity will rise to 3.2 million barrels per day from 1.83 million barrels per day once refining projects by the private sector are complete.

He added that the private sector is busy with such projects as the production of 360,000 barrels of oil in Persian Gulf Star Gas Condensate Refinery, of 480,000 barrels through commissioning of Siraf project, the 150,000 barrels to be yielded by Anahita refinery, the 300,000 barrels to be yielded by Bahman Geno refinery in Jask port, and 120,000 barrels by Pars refinery.
