NIDC Adopts New Cementing Method in Drilling Operations

TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (Shana) – The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has successfully tested and adopted a new cement slurry formulation over one of the appraisal wells it is operating at South Azadegan Oilfield in southwestern Iran.

NIDC has successfully adopted the new slurry formulation for casing operations.

The objective of primary cementing is to provide zonal isolation. Cementing is the process of mixing a slurry of cement, cement additives and water and pumping it down through casing to critical points in the annulus around the casing or in the open hole below the casing string.

Without cementing, drilling operations cannot continue to deep levels of the ground and production of oil would become impossible.

The formulation has proved effective for loss control of cement extract and ensuring compressive strength of cement stone in extreme pressure and temperatures.

Equipped with 90 cement, acid and liquids pumping machinery, NIDC offers a wide range of drilling services in offshore and onshore regions.
