8-Month Gas Delivery to Power Plants 4bcm Up

TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (Shana) – The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has delivered some 50.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to power plants across the country since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, up 4bcm year-on-year.

Speaking to Shana, spokesperson of the company Majid Boujarzadeh said NIGC delivered 46.5 bcm to power plants in the first 260 days of the previous year. 

Iran is seeking to replace delivery of liquid fuel to power plants with natural gas to save some environment. So far over 90% of the country's power plants are being fed by natural gas. 

Boujarzadeh said over 390 mcm of gas has been consumed by the household sector while 100 mcm was burned by industries in the 8 months.

NIGC has the capacity of delivering 700mcm of gas to households in the cold. 

Iranian power plants have consumed 806 million liters of liquid fuels like fuel oil and gasoil in the first 8 months of this calendar year, down 61% year-on-year. 

NIGC plans to deliver 73.5 bcm of natural gas to power plants by the end of the year.
