Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) here in Tehran on Wednesday, Hopton reiterated UK support for the nuclear deal — and for the rebuilding of commercial ties with Iran.
“I think that the signing today illustrates that the relationship between Europe and Iran in the commercial field is growing all the time,” he said. “Today’s signing is a very positive signal which we are moving forward.”
Britain’s ambassador to Iran further said a business delegation comprising executives of oil, gas and mineral companies will travel to Tehran in the near future, adding he attended the ceremony to show his full support for enhanced Tehran-London business ties.
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Royal Dutch Shell have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct studies on Azadegan, Yadavaran and Kish oilfields in Iran.
Noureddin Shahnazizadeh, managing director of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) from NIOC and Hans Nijkamp from Shell inked the deal in the presence of NIOC Managing Director Ali Kardor on Wednesday.
Based on the cooperation document, Shell will assess development projects of the fields.
