Zangeneh: Russia Opts for Oil Swap with Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (Shana) – Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh says Russian Lukoil company seeks oil swap with Iran and talks in that direction are going on.

According to IRNA, Zangeneh commented on the Tehran-Moscow joint project for oil swap and said during visit of Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak to Tehran no such talks had been held but Lukoil is following the project.

As for gas swap, Zangeneh said Russian Gazprom is also following a series of measures for partnership with Iran for gas swap.

He said negotiations had been held on certain oil fields and Memranda of Understanding (MoUs) had been signed to that end during visit of Russian delegation to Tehran.

He added that Russian Rosneft company seeks contribution to development of four Iranian oil fields, including South Azadegan field, through the Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order (EIKO).

During visit of Russian economic and oil delegation, headed by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, to Tehran last week, a MoU on study on two oil fields of Changuleh and Cheshme Khosh west of Iran was signed.

With the MoU signed by the two parties, total number of Iranian fields that will be studied by Russians per the deal will reach seven.
