Polish Interested in Expanding Maritime Cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (Shana) – Polish Deputy Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation Powell Brzeski says his country is willing to expand cooperation with Iran in the maritime sector.

Brzeski said his country is willing to expand cooperation with Iranian companies active in maritime transported and related industries.

Brzeski made the remark in a meeting with Managing Director of National Iranian National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Sirous Kian-Ersi.

He introduced capacities of Poland in maritime industries and navigation and said Polish purchase of crude oil from Iran dates as back as 40 years.

He said Poland is ready to offer services to Iranian oil tankers.

During his visit to Poland, Kian-Ersi met and conferred with Polish Lotus and Orlen companies, that are Iranian oil customers after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and directors of the PGNIG Company that is in charge of supplying Polish gas.

Having been informed of the capacity of the NITC, the PGNIG directors voiced willingness to use the ships of the NITC for transportation of the LPG consignments in the future.

Managing Director of the NITC arrived in Warsaw, Poland, on December 21 at the head of a delegation and on the invitation of the Polish companies and through coordination made by Iranian Embassy in Warsaw.

During his stay, Kian-Ersi said a number of government officials and directors of the companies conferred on mutual cooperation. 

The visit of the NITC Managing Director to Poland is of significance with regards to sale of Iranian oil to the European companies after the JCPOA implementation. It is also in response to the last month visit of the envoy of one of the most important Polish investment companies to Iran and his meeting with Kian-Ersi.
