Iran Oil Minister Thanks OPEC Sec. Gen. for Extending Condolences on Rafsanjani Demise

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (Shana) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh thanked Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo for kindly extending his condolences on the demise of former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Zangeneh said he had related Mr. Barkindo’s condolences to late Mr. Rafsanjani’s bereaved family. 

The Iranian official also thanked members of the OPEC secretariat for their sympathy and wished them health.

Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, also former president and veteran politician, passed away on Sunday after experiencing a heart attack.

Late Ayatollah Rafsanjani’s funeral procession was held on Tuesday morning in Tehran University and Imam Khomeini Mausoleum.
