Iran to start Crude Oil Production from South Pars Oil Layer

TEHRAN, March 07 (Shana) – Iran says it will start production of 35,000 barrels/day of crude oil from the oil layer of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said on Tuesday that Iran has plans to raise production of oil and gas from the joint field to levels higher than that of Qatar, reported IRNA.

"Most of our focus in land projects is on development of join oil fields like Yadavaran, Yaran and Azadegan that are located in the West Karoon region," said the official. 

Currently Iran is producing 280,000 barrels/day of crude oil from the fields in the region, he added. 

Regarding Sardar Jangal oilfield in the Caspian Sea, Zangeneh said cooperation of experiences companies is necessary for development of the field. 

"A huge investment is needed in this project that needs to be supplied," the official added.
