Gas Recovery from South Pars Doubles under President Rouhani: Min.

TEHRAN, March 10 (Shana) -- Iran has more than doubled natural gas recovery from the supergiant South Pars gas field under President Rouhani’s administration, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh says.

Addressing a ceremony to inauguration 5 new gas pressure stations in the central city of Kashan, the official said Iran has increased gas recovery from the field by almost 300 mcm/d in the years that Dr. Rouhani has been in office which means production from the field has more than doubled under his presidency.

Iran is currently recovering over 600 mcm/d of natural gas from 21 phases of the field which is shared with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters.

He said 11 phase developments of the joint field will have come online by the end of President Rouhani’s tenure to May, adding only 10 South Pars phases were operational before he took office in 2013.

Zangeneh further said 6 main delivery gas pipelines are needed for the transfer of 0.6bcm of gas produced at South Pars.
