Iran Mulls Petchem Exports to South America

TEHRAN, Oct. 04 (Shana) -- Iran is mulling export of petrochemical and polymer consignments to South American countries including Peru and Argentina in the current year, a petrochemical official says.

Director of foreign trade at Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) Hossein Rasoulzadeh said his company is considering emerging markets in South America in order to expand its export markets, NIPNA reported.

To this effect, he said, the company is planning to send spot consignments to Peru and Argentinian consumers in the current calendar year which began on March 21.

He said delivery costs are not very considerable but what makes export of items to destinations such far is the duration of delivery.

"A vessel from Latin America will carry the spot cargoes from Iran in order to reduce delivery costs," Rasoulzadeh said.
