Iran H1 Petchem Output at 26.8mt

TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (Shana) -- Iran's total petrochemical output crossed 26.8 million tons in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

According to the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), the installed capacity of 57 active Iranian petrochemical plants has reached 62 million tons/year of which nearly 60 mt/y is expected to be produced this year.

The plants operating at Mahshahr Special Economic Zone supplied 9.8 mt of items during the six months while the ones operating in Assalouyeh Petrochemical Zone produced 11.43 mt of petrochemicals.

Moreover, the plants active in other parts of the country contributed to Iran's petrochemical production by 5.5 mt during the period.

Exports fetched Iran over $5b during the 6 months.
