Iran, Russia Ink 6 Oil MoUs

TEHRAN, Nov. 01 (Shana) -- Iran and Russia has signed 6 oil memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in Tehran, the Iranian deputy petroleum minister for international affairs and trading said.

Amir Hossein Zamaninia told Shana on Wednesday that the first deal, signed by Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh and his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak, outlines strategic Tehran-Moscow cooperation on energy grounds.

The outline agreements were signed during Putin’s visit to the country on Wednesday.

Zamaninia said the deals concern topics from research and training cooperation to development of oil and gas fields.

“Today, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) also signed two deals with Gazprom and two others with Rosneft,” Mr. Zamaninia added.

The NIOC-Rosneft deal was inked by Ali Kardor (NIOC Managing Director) and Rosneft’s head Igor Sechin.

“The NIOC-Rosnest deal is beyond a mere MoU and one of the documents signed by Kardor and Sechin was a confidentiality agreement.”

Mr. Zamaninia was also the signatory of another deal on Wednesday with Gazprom, the former said.
