Total cannot Abandon SP11 Normally: Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (Shana) – Iran says Total S.A cannot leave South Pars 11 project for whose development it has signed a contract with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) under normal circumstances.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said the French energy giant can leave the project only if international sanctions are imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council.

"We have signed a legally binding contract with Total, CNPC International and Petropars and it has been stipulated in the document how and under which circumstances each side of the deal may abandon the project," the official said.
