The MP, who is also deputy head of the energy committee of the body, said the sector required state support provided by the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, saying the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has made acceptable progress in strengthening the industry's infrastructure.
In Iran, the petrochemical industry is primarily run by the private sector and the NPC acts mostly as a regulatory body managing the sector by controlling feedstock supply and providing infrastructure.
The MP further expressed optimism that the progress in the sector continues in the future.
Iran's petrochemical facilities have the nameplate capacity of supplying 62 million tons of petrochemicals annually.
