Bijan Alipur told a gathering
of senior oil officials in the southwestern province of Khuzestan that the company
has carried out projects which have cleaned the region of oil pollutants by
NISOC operates the oil-rich
regions in southern Iran and accounts for over 80% of Iran's total crude oil output.
"Production of oil
generates pollution everywhere in the world, so we are not saying that our
projects are utterly clean but I can assure you that we have never neglected environmental
issues in our operations."
He further stressed NISOC's
close-knit interactions with the Department of Environment (DOE), adding the
company has offered all the documents DOE has required from NISOC for reviewing
environmental conditions in the operational regions.
