TEHRAN – According to current plans, Iran will be marketing up to one million ton polymer products in the European markets by 2007.

Deputy managing director of Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company for international trade, Yousef Mosafer, told Petroenergy Information Network that the consignments will be sent through sea bulk container method to Italy, Spain and another destination in Europe. “In this method, big bags are put into containers and polymer granules are directly poured into them before sending them to their three destinations in Europe. Then it will by stored at special warehouses and silos and will be sold in 25-kg bags at market price,” he noted. Mosafer stated that China is a major export market for Iran, but since Irans petrochemical and polymer production will greatly increase due to underway projects, Chinese market alone will not suffice, and the Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company has made long-term plans for exporting petrochemicals. Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company is currently running 37 representative offices in 40 countries, 17 of which market polymer products.
