Roudsar - Jan 09 (Shana): Discovery of Sardare Jangal gas field in Caspian Sea and setting up it logistics site in Roudsar city in Gilan Province north of Iran will lead to industrial development of Iran’s northern provinces, Iranian minister of petroleum Rostam Qasemi made the remarks here on Monday.

Speaking at groundbreaking ceremonies of the site, Mr. Qasemi said that the other point regarding discovery of Sardare Jangle gas field was our specialists’ access to know-how and technology of drilling in deep waters which a few countries have access to it.

Referring to the recent years’ great efforts to find oil and gas in Caspian Sea, the official noted that we hope to extract oil from the field as well.

By finding this field, we have growing hope not only to find more oil and gas reserves in eight blocks of the sea but to extract their reserves’, minister of petroleum said.

Alluding to the existence of respectively 12 percent and 17 percent of global oil and gas reserves in Iran, Qasemi noted that world seeks diversification of energy resources and Iran with huge potentials can be a proper source of meeting energy needs.

Stating that Iran’s hydrocarbon resources are spreading from north to south of the country, the official noted that given these huge resources world markets can not ignore the country adding ‘at least in next fifty years no substitute will be found for Iran’s energy’.

In past Iranian month named Azar, Iranian minister of petroleum reported of discovering a new gas field in Iranian side of Caspian Sea waters at 700 meters depth later named Sardare Jangle to commemorate the efforts made by the commander of Jungle Movement, Mirza Kochak Jan who fought in north of Iran against foreign interference an despotic monarchs of the country in early years of 20 century.

As an independent gas field, Sardare Jangle gas field reserves are estimated at 50 trillion cubic feet which increases Iranian gas reserves in the sea by at least five fold.
