Iran 6-Month Petchem Output up 5% Y/Y

TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (Shana) -- Iran's petrochemical production rose by 5% in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21 from the same period last year.

A senior official with the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said Iranian petrochemical plants supplied 27 million tons of petrochemicals in the 6 months, which up by 5% from the preceding year's first half.

Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at NPC, said value of the produced items was 8% higher than the preceding year because of increased prices.

He said Iran has exported 15,000 tons of polyethylene to Asian countries during this calendar year, adding most of the country's exports were destined to India, China and South Korea and some cargoes were sent to African destinations during the half-year.
